Episode 1: The Shadows

The clouds were as dark as ever and the thunder was deafening, yet all she could do was run.

It was sunny and bright in the morning. After a nice banter and road trip with her friends the previous night, she was refreshed and ready to take on the world. A little chit chat with the lady down the road added to the joy and fire in her heart.

She settled in her watchtower, and proceeded to go about the assignments of the day. However by noon the shadows crept in without warning. They were not foreign to her, yet their strength and volume was greater than before. Their overwhelming strength threatened to suck the life and will out of her.

The struggle began, a miniature battle of its own. By evening she had all but given up knowing that there was one who could release her from their ghastly presence. As soon as she got a slight opportunity, she ran to Him. By then it was evening and the clouds hid any light that could pass through and the thunder prevented any word of hope and encouragement reaching.

The rain soaked into her clothes and chilling her to bone, draining every ounce of energy in her body and spirit. For a minute she considered facing the shadows on her own and defeating them with any strength that still remained in her. But no, she knew she had to push on. She was no match for them and has beard the consequences of such foolishness before. The memory of His presence, His fullness suddenly came to her mind and ignited a deep sense of hope, fueling her veins.

She leaped towards His door to cover the little distance that remained, but just as she attempted to knock, the door opened and she found herself in His arms crying like a child out of fear as she told Him about the shadows.

He had known about the attack of the shadows and had sent His servants to guide her here, for he knew, that on her own she would have been lost to the darkness. Cradling her in 1 arm he cast away the shadows with the other. Having dealt with them He proceeded to nurture her wounds and replenished her energy by feeding her.

By night, she was on her way home. Though a bit shaken, she was definitely stronger and wiser now, ready to face the shadows another time.
